Mid July...

Hello one and all,

cool_dog.jpg

Don't know where in the world you may be reading this from but where we are in central Scotland, we are in the middle of the longest heatwaves we have had from many a year, and you know what, its bloody great.

You will never hear me complaining about too much sun, no sir-ee bob we get our fair share of rubbish to very average weather here, so to have a prolonged dry spell is a welcome change.

Personally I have had a couple of weeks with my family before the next couple of months takes us playing all over the place. It was well needed and very much enjoyed every minute.

In the mean time the new album  'A Ways To Go' has been getting sent out all over the place, Australia, New Zealand, several states in America and all over the UK, seriously we both want to thank everyone for supporting us, rest assured every penny made from a sale goes straight into the pot for our next batch of songs to get recorded. Without you guys we certainly couldn't afford to do this ourselves or continue to find the inspiration to adding new tunes to ever increasing library, thank you all.

Reviews have started to drip back our way from all the various magazines, radio stations, reviewers that were sent a copy weeks ago now, and it seems the vibe is very positive indeed. There will be some airplay coming up very soon, and when we know its coming we will do our best to let you all know if you fancy listening in to internet radio or what not. By the way, if you ever converse with any radio stations please feel free to request any of our songs, as the more people ask, the more chance of more and more airplay.

The album is available ONLY at our bandcamp page until 4th August, where it will be then launched on all the usual suspect download sites (iTunes, amazon, and every other you can possibly think of). You can stream or purchase at bandcamp.

If you are a soundcloud user then the album is now also available to stream in full from this week.

Next month see's us travelling to Perth, Bathgate, and Glasgow and the following months we will be visiting Dundee, Glasgow & Inverness. Dates will be added to our events page as and when we can.

Thank you DUNDEE

What a great weekend, we had an absolute ball.

Thank you to all who helped our weekend in Dundee go so smoothly. Firstly to Ferguson minibus hire for helping us sort transport to and from both days. Also to the Dead Sea Souls for borrowing their p.a. Without both these people things would have been a struggle for us, we are in your debt.

The last weekend in June in Dundee for the last 19 years has brought many music fans to an ever increasing in size music festival, and the most astonishing thing is the have been able to keep it a FREE TO ENTER for all.

This was our second visit to the festival, and we hope it continues for many years.

We played in 2 relatively small venues, but the crowds were very receptive to our differing style of anyone's usual thoughts on 'the blues' . The amount of cd's we sold over the last 2 days gave us both a lift. You never know how your new music is going to be received before release, and as 'A Ways To Go' wasn't due for release until 4th August we are in that kind of period of nervous anticipation. However, the gigs in May coupled together with last weekends had raised our hopes a lot.

So, without any further waiting we have decided to release the album TODAY

It will be available exclusively from our bandcamp page, then come 4th August it will be available at all the usual download site's (iTunes, Amazon etc...)

You can listen to the album in full on our audio page here

Which also has links to the bandcamp page, or just click right here

Bandcamp is unique, because its gives the artist the most percentage return of any out there. Also for the customers (ie you guys) you can listen to every track prior to buying. Then if you decide to purchase a full album you can buy a physical or download. However if you do buy a physical copy you also get an email immediately on receipt of your purchase giving you instructions to have the whole album (plus artwork) emailed to you in whatever format you prefer.

We hope you have the time to listen to the album, if you like please buy

All the very best

Craig & John

Keepin' it Dixie

So much going on

Where to start, this might be a bit all over the place but I promise to do it as painless as possible.

Gigs, right ok as good a place as any to kick us off.

This weekend we are playing both dates at Dundee Blues Bonanza, all details can be found on our events page.

  Events

So, we are giving the good people attending these gigs the very first chance to purchase our brand new cd 'A Ways To Go', which officially doesn't appear on any of the download sites before Sunday 4th August.

We are doing a little deal...you can buy the new album for £6 or buy both the first & second album (usually £5 on its own) for only TEN OF YOUR BRITISH POUNDS - a bargain as you can plainly see. There will also be a very limited number of Dixie Fried official t-shirts with us this weekend also (only in black I'm afraid).

ps details of all our gigs are available on our events page, so please keep checking there for full address, map, ticket details, stage times etc...there is also an online link available for our Glasgow 30th August gig @ Broadcast, click on that event for link.

Last night we found out (from a nod from a good friend of the band) that one of our favourite artists are back on Scottish shores later this year. Yes, the North Mississippi Allstars are going to be at Oran Mor this October, and even better its on my birthday. If it is half as good as last July's gig in Edinburgh's Voodoo Rooms then we are all in for a treat. I cannot wait. And seeing as we are such nice people here is the ticket link.

The final finished look is very much what we were looking for, a hint back to music that we loved in a format that is untouchable, but all in all it is popart personalised ala Dixie Fried.

As we now have the finished product in hands I am glad to be able to sneak this in at the bottom of this update that it will be available on pre-order from Monday 1st July.

We should be able to announce this Friday a list of dates that we have lined up to be able to let you all hear what we are very proud of.

Keep it Dixie y'all
