February update

Hey y'all,

Hope this finds you well ?

OK I admit it, this has been a little quiet recently, but believe me please when I say we have been very busy behind the online persona of Dixie Fried. January has been a month of admin, contacting many many agencies, festivals, promoters, studio, producers, designers and on top of all that having new tunes ready to record. We are both very pleased to say it was a very productive month indeed, and now very happy with the way our ship is steering.

Lets start off with another review, that was recently published online (print to follow real soon). If you have a moment please check out right here, its about our final gig of 2012, with nice words about both our label & first album

Next topic has got to be the new tunes for next album, one song we have worked very hard on making it as good as we can do. There was a lot of heartache over this one, because we knew we were on to something very special with lyrics and feel but no matter what we did there was always something that seemed missing. There must have been 4 different versions of this song before we finally found what we believe to be one of our best to date. Many hours working on 'feel', 'groove' and 'impact' and now very pleased to be in a very happy place as we finally have it nailed. In complete contrast to the many hours of slog we then stepped up another previous song (from 2 or 3 years ago) that just never seemed to work, played it for 20-30 minutes with another new style and BOOM, done.

So as of right now we have the tracks for next album done, and now working very hard to rehearse these to be ready to record as our heroes did back 40 or 50 years ago. We like to record completely live to grab the feel that worked for those so well prior to digital tracking. Yes, we are not going to ignore technology just saying where we like to go in the studio.

Studio is now booked, engineer & producer in place, so time for focusing in on that is our main aim right now.

The website will be given a complete overhaul in the coming months, with a few additional features coming in, and we will also be changing quite a few things (hopefully for the better, hee hee).

We are also now pleased to say we are honoured to be part of a great day of charity fundraising for Yorkhill Sick Kids Hospital. If you are in the Glasgow area the last Saturday in May then the line up is well worth checking out. Hopefully a ton of money will be made from what promises to be a great day. Well that was good to get off my chest, feel better now...as soon as I can announce more information about upcoming things I promise I will be straight back on here.

In the meantime, keep it Dixie y'all
