May....
Its been a couple of weeks since we have been able to say what has been happening without talking about up coming gigs, and thought we'd share what has been going on.
We have been getting the gear in the van and so far in last month or so we have appeared in Bathgate, Cardenden, Culloden and Inverness, and in the next 6 weeks stopping off at Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Montrose. We have been very lucky in seeing some amazing acts (including Homesick Aldo, The Rag & Bone Man, Adullboy, The White Russians & Gus Munro), and really looking forward to seeing many many more (Ewan Butler, Jamie Flett, Shoogar, and many more) at the next batch of gigs.
Last night we got back in the studio and got a chance to get our teeth back into a song that we have been really wanting to get it back on track. We now both know where we are going with it, with the foundations all in place and lyrics working very nicely. Just need to flesh it out a bit more, sort the intro tweak wee bits here and there, and who knows maybe experiment a bit with other instruments once we have a working tune. Very excited about.
This is hopefully the direction we will be taking over next few months, working more and more on new material, and if we can add in wee experiments here and there. Evolution...
Most recently we have been pretty excited about some of our favourite artists all releasing new solo cd's - all with Black Crowes connections.
Marc Ford - his last solo album (Neptune Blues Club) is right up there with one of my favourite albums of all time. New album is a slight departure from the previous but not any less outstanding. AND we get to see him in Edinburgh Voodoo Rooms in three weeks.
Chris Robinson Brotherhood - due out any day (there were problems with first release date), and if it is anything like the two previous Brotherhood albums or New Earth Mud then I know I will be one very happy punter.
Rich Robinson - third solo album, there are sneak previews on youtube just now and with the musicians he has around him for this, then this is going to be another great album. Hoping he still decides to come to Scotland, as it only looks like London is his only UK gig this year. Doubt we can make it down there, as we have a few gigs ourselves around that time. Still fingers crossed for an extra date
