Beat Herder 2015

What a great festival...4 simple words that mean the world, but simply do not do enough justice to such a well run place.

15,000 coming together to have a great weekend. From every walk of life but once inside you would never know these weren't one big happy clan enjoying all the Lancashire countryside.

As it should be at a festival the emphasis is on fun and entertainment and it was here in abundance. The fancy dress challenge this year was set as anything to do with the letter 'E' and some truly inspirational choices were spotted and caused many a chuckle throughout the weekend. From Easy E, to a male Elsa (from Frozen), to a fully built Eddie Stobart lorry, to Elmo, Elf's, Egg Heads, Eye's, Egg's, E numbers, Elasta girl from the Incredibles, to Edward Scissorhands and Ebeneezer Good...and so on...fantastic  effort, and great fun.

There were stages for every taste, mostly catering for the dance generation (as I was informed the festival sprung from an illegal rave in a forrest and grew from there) but with several stages of live music acts, including a main stage in a natural ampitheatre that had Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Basement Jaxx and Leftfield work their magic. There was even ice cold Red Stripe still available at 10pm on the Saturday night, fantastic.

Couple of highlights for me would be the Welsh band Telegraph, the ice cold beer, the friendly vibes throughout, the general sound, the walk through the forest that completely changed during the day to the night, the variety of festival food was tremendous, and the jazz funk hip hop tent in the field with the stone circle / campfire.

Would highly recommend this festival to all, in fact even saw a few buggies being pushed by two generations of the same family so when we say all we really mean all.

Special thanks to Carol, Joe & Rachel for looking after us behind the scenes.

Onwards and upwards...

Happy 10th birthday celebrations Beat Herder, honoured to be a part of it and look forward to many more happy returns
