News coming soon...

Things are almost ready for some announcing, can't quite say just yet but very very close. Please bear with us, promise its going to be worth it.

Craig has been struggling with the cold the last 8 days or so, we entered the studio last night on eggshells unsure of how his voice would stand up, planning to do more instrumental tracks and working on old song / new song. Well through a lot of coughing between tunes he soldiered on and we got through it.

We hadn't played a song that we recorded for the album in quite a while, but it is one that really takes us all over the place. Its about drinking, being drunk and talking to drunks, you get the drift. In fact the rhythm also has a walking while drunk feel to it as well, all over the place hee hee

Anyway, first play we almost nailed it, but five jams down it was almost back to where we left it all those many months ago.

Good feeling getting this song worked into the set, promise we will be announcing a few gigs very soon, as well as album release date, album name and possibly artwork (if allowed).

Think we may actually get an old cover jammed out again, so if you have any thoughts / suggestions we'd love to hear.

As always, keep it Dixie folks

Saturday 25th May @ The Joint, Glasgow

It is with great regret that we have had to pull out of tomorrow's charity event for Yorkhill Children's Hospital.

Craig has struggled all week with a bug, and afraid it has beaten him to be able to sing tomorrow. He couldn't sing at practise this week, and has rested as much as possible all week. Filling himself with as much legally prescribed drugs as possible, but alas it beat him.

Many apologies to all going, but we know with the quality of bands playing it will be an outstanding day/night. Hope it earn's a lot of much needed money for the foundation.

We have never pulled out of a gig commitment in our history, and played after operations and serious eye trauma, but alas we require vocals.

This Saturday the 25th May, we have been invited to play alongside some outstanding artists, and all are giving their time up to help this amazing Glasgow hospital. It all kicks off from 3pm until the early hours, and best of all it is completely FREE ENTRY.

Of course any donation will be accepted, and there will be many different things going to help you part with any spare cash.

We have been lucky enough to play quite a few of these in the past and know ourselves how good this line up is, so for being able to see this line up FOR FREE, but also help out a very worthwhile charity with a wee donation is something I would be going to see myself.

The venue is The Big Joint, 1084 South St, Glasgow G14 0AP

Here is a wee map to help

Hope to see you there

The Beards

IMAG0529.jpg

What a great 2 days we had last week with The Beards on the Scottish dates of their first ever European tour. 4 great guys, supported by a great crew as well. Thankfully 2 of the crew were also beardless making myself feel a little less inadequate in the facial hair stakes.

Many thanks to Regular Music for the support slots, hopefully we showed them what we bring to the table for future work together.

Going with the crowd reaction on both dates we seemed to go do very well indeed, which after several months rehearsing the new material for the new album was a big relief. We both felt the new music is ready to unleash to the public now and last week the crowd at both gigs blew us away. A great big smile was there on my face both dates. From the dancers in Edinburgh to the whoops & hollers in Glasgow to the jibes about 'no beard' from both, absolutely brilliant....love the 'more cowbell' shouts as well, DAMN RIGHT  !!!!

So tonight back to rehearsing, and hopefully listening to the final master of the album material. A few wee tweaks were done last week which have been listened to through headphones and sound exactly what was asked. So tonight, putting through the huge speakers and giving it some big noise in the studio. Anything needing done will be found for sure tonight but very hopeful we may have some definitive dates for album release very soon.

News of lots of dates coming real soon.

Thanks to all who helped make last weeks gigs give us our much needed gig fix the boost we needed.

Keepin' it DIxie
