Amped Up is a new online free to read, Scottish Music magazine. It was created earlier this year, and we were asked a few questions one fine day.

If you fancy having a wee read then just click the link below.

If you have been following us on facebook you may have seen we have been a little quiet recently. Well we have been focusing entirely on brand new material, before we need to start preparing for our last gig of 2013, in Hootananny's, Inverness in just a few weeks time.

Details of gig right here

Got to be honest, we have one song almost ready to go. It is just one of those tunes that has felt completely right from the kick off, and every jam session we get back in the groove it seems we are improving little bits n bobs. Hoping to start another new one this week to have at least two in the bag before Inverness. It was feeling so good, we decided to record it live last week so we could hear it back pumped through the p.a. in the rehearsal space, then it felt even better.

If anyone fancies coming up to Inverness let us know and we can hopefully grab a wee drink or two to celebrate another great year in Dixie Fried. It is on a Saturday, and its St Andrews Day (30th November) so what other excuses do you need to know its going be a cracking atmosphere in one of the UK's best small venue's.

Hopefully shouldn't be too long before next update

Thanks for keeping it Dixie y'all

ps If you were there, how good was North Mississippi Allstars gig last Thursday in Glasgow ? Brilliant, just top notch stuff for 2 hours. Also Luther remembered us from Voodoo Rooms the previous year as I gave him a copy of our new album, a great night.

Recently & upcoming

We cannot thank you all who have took the time to come along to any of our recent shows we are still buzzing from playing to familiar & lots of new faces. We have a few more shows coming up that we will get into a bit more detail very soon, at present we are focused on our show at Glasgow's Art School in support of Broken Hands really looking forward to our visit into what we have heard is a great wee venue.

If anyone fancies coming along drop us a message as we have a couple of (almost) half price tickets available or click here

I think we will be good to go and announce some November gigs next weekend, but this is the place where you will hear it first, so please don't get bored too much with the patter here, it sometimes gets better... honest

October is going to see us focus solely on brand spanking new material, already had a couple of jams to see if anything appears from the ethos, thankfully last week there is the bare bones of a couple so head down to get some more in the pipeline.

On that vein we would be eternally grateful if you have any music you would like to recommend our way, where hopefully we find some new inspiration / influenced in a specific direction to create some new Dixie Fried numbers.

So as this is a tit for tat society, here are 5 new tracks that we are really digging just now. From Booker T's new album, to The Temperance Movement album which is released TODAY, The Strypes album which is also available now, to a song that may or may not have some bearing on a song from our new album from Left Lane Cruiser., there is of course a cracking live song by Otis Redding with Eric Burden of The Animals also on vocals.

So...we are advising you what is floating our boat just now, please your suggestions are more than welcome

Keep it Dixie y'all

Dundee never disappoints

I have said it before, every time we have played at Dundee we have had a ball and last night at 20 Rocks only cemented our feelings  even more.

Dougie put on a great line up that made us smile all night, many thanks mate.

Two Thieves ticked all the boxes for us, great harmonies from Aaron & Amira and you would never think for a second that Aaron wasn't from Nashville, a couple of covers (Old Crow Medicine Show - personal fav's of us both - & Bob Dylan) and a lot of original material that I hope will see these two go very far

Mosco we just knew were going to be very good and brilliant musicians. All 4 still teenagers with the bass player (who was brilliant) only 14 !!! Cannot wait to see him as a 21 year old he will be right up there, wow !!! All original tunes, that had a right funk / rock / indie vibe going on. Looking forward to getting my hands on the E.P. (once they sort out the mastering). Watch out for these 4 for sure.

Killing Floor played an acoustic show with Ross on steel resonator, a mate on bongo's and Isabella S. Melking on backing vocals. Recognised quite a few of the tunes from the full band version a year or so back, but loved the overall laid back dirty blues feel.

We didn't hit the stage till just before 11pm, and thankfully a decent crowd were still kicking around to get down and dirty with us. We chopped and changed our set as we were going along, and think we nailed it by keeping the overall blues rock trin rolling along very nicely. Finished off (as usual recently) with the crowd pleasing ON SHOTGUN

(here is a mobile phone recording of last week)

Anyway, that was our last gig for a fortnight, next up is supporting Broken Hands at Art School in Glasgow on Tuesday 24th September. Still got a few cheap tickets available, just drop an email to one of us (contact page) ASAP

Couple of weeks in studio and starting to work on a new batch of tunes (and maybe keep a wee cover working away) great times.

Thanks to all who have been coming to our recent batch of gigs, more to be announced real soon.

Keep it Dixie y'all

20 Rocks

Tomorrow we are going to be playing in a city that has been very very kind to us, and I can tell you we both cannot wait. We played 2 fantastic shows back June this year, and tomorrow we hit the stage at 20 Rocks for the first time. We have been lucky enough to see a couple of great gigs in there, and to be able to play in that special venue makes it even sweeter.

All the details of the night are on our events page, which if you click HERE you can see for yourself but the line up looks great, and than you Dougie for setting this up.

It is FREE ENTRY, and if in the area why not come and cut some rug with us, have a few drinks and enjoy the LIVE LOCAL MUSIC SCENE.

Going to be a late night for us, but we cannot wait.

If going please come say hello

Keep it Dixie y'all
