First gig of the year, new tunes, recording
Saturday was an excellent night, we truly had a ball playing our home town for the first time since we released the album last year. It was all part of our rehearsal space fundraiser, with another 2 bands from there also playing alongwith our good friend Homesick Aldo from across the Forth Delta.
What a great atmosphere, crowd was buzzing when Aldo took to the stage. Only really us knew what to expect, but he quickly brought the whole place on board his fantastic blues train.
We were up next, and quickly rattled through a short but sweet set consisting of two new tunes 'One Night In Vegas' and 'On Shotgun', as well as some old favourites from the first album. Very pleased about the feedback, and cannot wait to crack on with recording those (plus others) very soon - more on that in a minute.
The Stasi Circus Troupe woke everyone up with their brand of explosive garage rock & Freaky Circles completed the line up with a set of covers that got the (very well oiled) crowd singing and cutting some rug till closing time.
Glad to announce we raised more than enough to purchase the equipment we were hoping to add to our rehearsal space, so thanks to all our old & new friends that came along and made that happen.
Also on Saturday night we received word that we are booked back into the studio mid April to get our next batch of songs recorded. Always great days with our good friend 'the bus pass kid' and already looking forward to having these recorded for future release.
On top of all that we finished the weekend with a trip to King Tuts to see one of our guitar heroes Rich Robinson (of Black Crowes fame), what a fantastic couple of days.
So now the hard work begins to make sure we are ready to spend every second in the studio wisely, and do ourselves justice with some tracks that have already got people excited, but others that are so far removed from anything we have done in the past, we hope you guys will 'dig' them as much as we do.
Keep it Dixie y'all
